Dear Ms. Beidle:

​

I join my neighbors in requesting your immediate resignation as a Maryland State Senator.  

Your conduct (and that of Julie Hummer's too) in recently released videos calling police on a Black man is revolting and represents a nightmare for every mom of a little Black boy in our community.

 

I also share concerns about your behavior towards fellow elected officials.  Appropriate workplace conduct does not infringe upon civil rights nor allow for threats, retaliation, or abuse of Black people.  These videos are painful to watch.

Everyone in our community deserves respect and I condemn in the strongest terms any racist behavior that places a member of our community in harm's way or infringes upon their rights.  No one can trust you or have confidence in you when you make a racist claim to be in fear of a Black man and ask the police department to keep your 911 call secret.  It is a frightening abuse of power not just for Black people but for any citizen.

In a world where so many things are going wrong, your behavior is repulsive and divisive.  We deserve better.  Your should know better as a Democrat.  Please resign.
